What is coming out of the oven

Some things are daily, some are not. When a bake sells out we do not make more until tomorrow.

Country Sourdough

Overnight ferment, baked at five. Half loaves after two o'clock.

Daily · from 07:30

Butter Croissants

Laminated the day before. Roughly sixty a day and they do not last past ten at weekends.

Daily · from 07:30

Cardamom Buns

Three days a week because they take the whole morning. Twenty-four of them.

Tue, Thu, Sat

Focaccia, Rosemary & Sea Salt

Cut into squares from a single tray. Also what the lunch sandwiches are built on.

Wed and Sat

Cinnamon Morning Buns

Weekend only. People queue for these and we are not entirely sure why.

Fri – Sun

Seeded Rye

Dense, sour and better on day two. Whole loaves only.

Mon, Wed, Fri

Sunday Cinnamon Loaf

One tray, sliced thick, usually gone by ten. Order ahead if you want a whole one.

The Café

One roaster, one grinder, no guest beans

We buy from one roaster in Al Quoz and stick with them, which means the coffee tastes the same on a Tuesday as it did last month. There is a single origin filter for anyone who wants it and no pressure to care.

  • Bread baked overnight, on the shelf from 07:30
  • One lunch special a day — written on the board, not a menu
  • No laptops after twelve at weekends, and the tables are better for it
  • Whatever is left at closing goes to the shelter on Al Wasl
